Tempus Fugit 2025 — Label

Tempus Fugit

Red

Tempus Fugit is a Sangiovese red wine from the Poggio 3 Lune estate in Rignano sull’Arno, Tuscany, Italy. Its appellation is Toscana IGT.

Sangiovese, in this corner of Tuscany, is not a vehicle for fruit. It is a vehicle for stone — for the compressed limestone and iron-rich Galestro schist that gives the wine its particular severity and length. It demands patience from the vine and from the glass.

2025 was a year of contrasts — a dry spring followed by a temperate August, harvest conducted slowly, in multiple passes, over three weeks in September. The resulting wine carries the year's seriousness. It will not soften easily and will not be forgotten quickly.

24 months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by 12 months in bottle before release. No filtering. No fining beyond gravity. The wine arrives when it is ready, not when the calendar demands.

Contrasts, and the strength they made.

We resist the language of fruit bowls and cedar chests. The wine speaks for itself, and it speaks slowly.

What the nose offers first is the character of the soil — minerals, dried iron, something ancient and undecorated. Then comes the fruit, not as a leading note but as a revelation: dark cherry, dried fig, something approaching balsam in the mid-palate.

The tannins are present and structural. They are not aggressive — they are considered. Like the bones of a well-built sentence, they give the wine its architecture and ensure its longevity.

The finish is long and austere. It lingers not as sweetness but as a reminder that something meaningful has occurred.

A wine of this structure deserves time before drinking. In the glass as much as in the bottle.

Decant for a minimum of two hours before serving. Four hours is not excessive. The wine has been patient for three years — it will reward your patience in kind.

Serve between 16–18°C. Not cellar cold, not room temperature. The wine should arrive at the table at the temperature of thoughtful attention.

The wine will develop beautifully for 15–20 years from harvest. Those who acquire it for a future occasion are thinking correctly.
